From: The Pastor’s Heart
To: YouTitle: “Be the WALL”
I’ll never forget the first time I heard Donnie McClurkin sing the song, ‘Stand’. It was
recorded and released in 1996 and it continues to be one of my favorite gospel selections
of all time. The message is so powerful and uplifting especially during those times in life
when you’re feeling broken, wounded, or weak. Everyday is not going to be a good day
and there will be moments when you feel exhausted from the unexpected stresses that
come every now and then. No-one is excluded from these challenges, but this song
reminds us that we’ve been given authority through the blood of the Lamb to not only
endure, but conquer.
In the book of Romans, the Apostle Paul taught that we are more than conquerors through
Jesus Christ our Lord and it’s about making up in your mind that you will not allow
anything to separate you from the love of God, no matter what. It’s about navigating
through trials from the standpoint of what you know, not what you feel. Because you were
created in the image of God you are important to Him and it’s His will that you prosper in
all areas of life. The Holy Spirit is always here to comfort and heal whenever God’s child is
battling emotionally and spiritually. Regardless of how, when, or why the challenge came
the joy is in knowing that this too shall pass and you’re going to be greater as a result of
what you’ve come through.
When I was a teenager I used to work with one of the deacons of our church who was a
contractor and builder by trade. He taught me how to put a new roof on a house, how to
pour and level a foundation. He taught me how to use a large variety of tools and what to
be cautious about when remodeling or repairing an existing structure. One of things I
remember well was learning how to recognize a load-bearing wall. By definition, a loadbearing
wall is any wall which supports the structure above it. When you’re tearing
something down to replace it with something better, you want to be very careful not to
bother the load bearing wall because it’s carrying the weight. You must first remove the
weight it’s supporting before you finally bring it down.
Sometimes you may feel like you can’t handle the weight on you, but God made you not
only special, He made you strong. The key is to keep on Standing, like Donnie said, and
know that slowly but surely, God is removing the burden that’s bearing down on you. You
will discover, if you don’t already see it, that you are stronger than you probably give
yourself credit for. You are the King’s Kid and a way of escape and victory have already
been put in place for you. During those moments when you feel overcome with pressure,
just know that with Christ on your side, you can handle it. You’re better today because of
what you’ve endured so far. Take a deep breath and trust that He won’t put more on you
than you can bear. He knows you and He knows that you can “Be the WALL!”
EVERYTHING WE DO MOVING FORWARD WILL BE INTENTIONAL AND DRIVEN WITH
PURPOSE TO REPRESENT THE KINGDOM OF GOD IN THE BEST POSSIBLE LIGHT!
NOTHING WILL BE DONE WITH ENERGY LESS THAN OUR BEST AND EFFORT BELOW
OUR MAXIMUM POTENTIAL.
OUR SERVICE IS LOCAL, BUT OUR REACH IS GLOBAL – SO WE CANNOT REDUCE OUR
PRESENTATION DOWN TO WHAT’S CONVENIENT, BUT RATHER WE MUST RAISE IT TO
THAT WHICH IS EXPLOSIVE!
Get ready for major change that’s coming systematically, intellectually, purposefully, and
professionally. Nothing we do moving forward will be done haphazardly, sloppily, poorly,
or carnally.
We Are the LIGHT!
Sincerely,
Pastor J.E. Chandler, Sr.
